Welcome

A series of Web pages devoted to the DuMont Television Network, America's fourth television network which operated from 1946 to 1956. The site was originally launched on February 5, 1999 as a one-page article on DuMont with a few links, and has since expanded to what you see today. This was the first, and is still the largest, DuMont resource on the Internet.

Site Updates

Thank you to K.M. Richards of Van Nuys, Calif., for contributing a comprehensive update in 2011 of our "Trail of Bleached Bones." K.M. also updated the entire site in 2014 to add new pictures and information and continued to work with the author when new material was added or other changes needed until Clarke's passing in late 2023. K.M. is also responsible for having recreated the site from the original archived HTML and images as the site existed before going offline at its original domain.

A Note on Spelling

We refer to the network and company as DuMont throughout this site, although it is clear from materials of the era that the preferred usage was Du Mont. Few people include the space, and others write the name as Dumont, which was frowned on in the early years as well as by family and network alumni today. In deference to the search engines, and to Bruce DuMont's current usage of the family name, we will continue to refer to "DuMont" throughout these pages.

About the Author

Clarke Ingram was in the broadcasting industry for more than 30 years as Program Director and on-air personality at various radio stations. Ingram collected programs from the Golden Age of Television, and conducts research on the DuMont network and early UHF stations. He passed away after battling several illnesses on November 25, 2023. He passed the copyright to the site to K.M. Richards about a year prior to his death, and it is presented here much as it had previously existed.
