Appendix Eight: Locations

For historical reference, the following is a list of known DuMont plants and locations. This list is reprinted verbatim from a 1953 book called The Story of Television, published by Allen B. DuMont Laboratories. The author is interested in learning whether these buildings still remain today, and if so, for what purposes they are being utilized, more than forty years after DuMont's demise.

Update

Doug Douglass was kind enough to provide the author with the following information.

"2 Main Avenue in Passaic is now used by a design firm. (Note: The author has since identified the firm as Michaelangelo Designs. Before becoming DuMont's first headquarters, this building was a pickle works.)

"The Adelphi Theatre was demolished to make way for an addition to the New York Hilton Hotel.

"The Ambassador Theatre (as of April, 1999 -ed.) housed the musical revival of 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown'."

Doug also sent the author some marvelous pictures of former DuMont locations, including the former DuMont headquarters at 750 Bloomfield Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey, which (in a non sequitur equal to the converted pickle factory) is now, at least according to the sign in the window, a "Wallcovering Warehouse"!

The author hopes to post these pictures on this Web site when time and circumstances permit.
