This is a special, albeit morbid, page on the History of UHF Television site. Below is a table listing the 120 stations that began -- and ended -- operation during the first 30 years of UHF. The database compiled for the Channels section was used to create this table, which lists stations in order of their last day of operation. We have also included the dates that the construction permit was granted for each station and the first on-air date for each.

Not included are:

• Stations that later resumed operation and remained on the air.
• Stations that went dark to change channels and did not subsequently go dark on the new channel.
• Stations which merged operations with another station.
• Stations which were relicensed facilities, either by the original permittee or a subsequent owner.
• Stations for which CPs were issued but never went on the air.
• Stations which operated for brief test periods after going dark.

Notes have been added to explain exceptions to the above. Interim dark periods of one month or less in duration are not noted. Stations are listed with the call letters they held at the time they went dark. Non-commercial educational stations are indicated with an asterisk (*) following the channel number. This page is titled "The UHF Morgue" as a tribute to Peter Q. George's former site of the same name (most of the articles from that site have been imported here and expanded with additional information).
